When Doves Fly is a play that delves into the journey of a young man at a crossroad in his life. This is a story about forgiveness and how it allows God to open doors, tear down walls, and unlock the past to reveal the future’s potential. 


When Doves Fly is a full-length contemporary gospel musical stage play about a wayward seventeen year old orphan stepping out on faith at a time when everything seems to be going against him.  He is about to age out of the foster care system, but doesn’t want his criminal activities to trap him in the revolving door of the penal system.  He decides to turn his life around by searching for and dropping in on his unsuspecting biological church family.  Before closure can take place, deep secrets are uncovered and the truth finally comes to light.

A full-length play about a preacher’s kid, who fell from grace, seeks forgiveness and wants back into the historical close-knit family church so he can find his true calling.  He meets with strong resistance from his father the Bishop, gossipers and naysayers so he has to depend on his own faith in  God to make a way where there seems to be no way (Based on a true story).

Young Mike Underwood Jr., fell victim to the P.K. (Preacher’s kid) syndrome early on. Wanting to be like everyone else outside of the church and not yielding to the pressures and expectations he felt smothered by his father; the well respected and renowned Bishop Michael Underwood Sr.  Bishop Underwood dreams of his son taking over his church one day and Mike fights to escape the life all together.  When his sinful, irresponsible antics come to light and brings embarrassing shame on him and his family, Mike Jr. has a hard decision to make.
